The Perfectlawn Series is a line of artificial turf designed by SGC Synthetic Grass and Composite which has been the leader in the market for a number of years. The design of the artificial turf was created so that the turf can be installed with ease. Here we will advise tips and tricks of having the perfect installation.
Ground Work
The correct installation of your artificial grass may be the most important step when it comes to getting your turf project done. Ultimately the goal is to ensure that your artificial turf has a strong base. You will require excavation that is 2-4 inches deep. This will ensure that your grass wont lift. For commercial application we advise excavating the area 4-8 inches. This is usually done to keep a clean perimeter to facilitate laying the border.
For each application you need to make sure that you mark the exact area that you will be applying the artificial grass. Work within this space and remove all the necessary debris that may have built up in the past.
Tip: Your original sod is usually sitting on a base that is already excavated, therefore you may not require any excavation and only require leveling the area
Additional Materials
Once you have dug your sub base and leveled it you will then lay a weed barrier. The weed barrier will help prevent weed from forming and growing through your artificial turf. Ensure that the weed barrier fits the area and is brought to the edges of the perimeter.
You will then have to add your backfill. The backfill can be a crusher dust or crushed stone and should be added to your excavated surface. This will go on top of the weed barrier. The weed barrier will lay flat to the sub base. You will need to make sure that the crusher dust or stone is leveled.
Trick: Level out with a rake in beginning your backfill with the part located at the opposite of your access to the area.
Time to Lay your grass!
Its time to lay your grass directly to the compacted stone area. This stage of installation you will first lay your grass in the area. Laying the grass first will let you know exactly how you want your area to look. You will then know where your seams will be and where to cut your turf.
Final Step
In conclusion, seaming tape and nails are the final materials required. Ultimately this is last because these seal your project. The seaming tape is joint tape that is placed below the surface and against the joint. Remove the backing protecting the adhesive and add it to the joints of the two pieces of turf. This will form a seal on the ribbon. More Good adhesion of turf joint tape firmly protects your artificial grass from trampling against the turf joint. The nails are 8 inch non galvanized nails that you will hammer in to every linear foot.
Tip: Lay the adhesive tape with the protector first before joining the seams. You want to confirm that you have the grass laying properly and that you did not miss any areas.
FINISHED!
FINALLY, you have now completed your installation. The base is secure and real sod is now a thing of the past.
